CHANDIGARH: Leading the league of academic brilliance, girls topped three out of four streams to dominate the CBSE Class XII results that were declared on Tuesday. While girls clinched the first position in Tricity in medical, commerce and arts, a boy stood first in the non-medical course.
With three best scorers from Chandigarh, the city shined on the report card.
Panchkula was the hometown of the fourth one and Mohali did not figure in the top list.
Tricity topper in Class XII medical, Carmel Convent student Jannat Kang scored 95.4%. Aiming to be a renowned cardiologist, the bubbly teenager said she lives life to the fullest. ''Studies and fun go hand in hand,'' she revealed her success formula.
Making a mark with 96.6% in commerce, Heera Raparia of Panchkula's Bhavan Vidyalaya got 100 marks in the subject of business studies. Originally from Haryana, Heera's parents are settled in Assam and she lives with relatives here. ''I believe in self-study and want to crack UPSC exams and serve the country,'' she said excitedly.
In the non-medical stream, Vivek Mehta of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, bagged a handsome 96.4 % marks. ''I want to pursue engineering from a top-notch institute,'' he said.
The arts topper, Ushma Goswami is a student of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16 and has got 94.2%. Her aim, too, is to become a civil servant and work for a corruption-free bureaucracy.
Calm at schools:The excitement and relief associated with result declaration did not reflect in schools, which bore a deserted look. Principals said with result available on the CBSE website, only a few students came to the campus.
